At NVRE, our Pre-Toddler Program follows the Reggio Emilia approach, integrating art, dance, music, small world play, nature exploration, speaking and listening activities, explorative play, water play, and physical movement. These elements are woven into our curriculum to create a rich, dynamic learning environment that nurtures each child’s development.
During their learning experiences, students document their understanding through artwork, verbal explanations, and photos. This creative sharing of thought processes helps form the scaffolding of each discovery, allowing teachers to track and support each student’s progress effectively.
At NVRE, we strive to understand what, where, and how children should learn to thrive in a dynamic world. Our focus is on developing essential skills, including emotional, motor, neurological, intellectual, social, and environmental skills.
Practical Life Skills
Our curriculum connects children to their environment and themselves by allowing them to practice everyday activities they observe at home. Children learn skills such as eating, tying, buttoning, zipping, and hand-washing, along with activities that promote cleanliness and environmental care. They also develop motor skills like standing, balancing, and cutting, and engage in daily routines like watering plants, using dustbins, cleaning, and polishing. These activities foster social skills, group participation, and an understanding of responsibility.
Sensory Development
Children explore the world around them using their senses. We provide safe materials to help them learn about smell, touch, hearing, taste, color, structure, and sound. Through sensory activities, children deepen their understanding of their environment and themselves.
Language Learning
In our Pre-Toddler Program, children develop both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. With guidance from teachers and interaction with peers, they learn to express themselves. The program includes native language learning through daily activities, as well as Spanish immersion, where students are supported by native Spanish speakers, books, and materials. Language learning is reinforced through activities like conversation, storytelling, and singing.
Introduction to Mathematics
Mathematics is introduced through real-life activities and sensory experiences, progressing from concrete to abstract concepts. Children begin by counting real-life objects or colorful pictures, gradually moving on to written numbers. As they advance, they learn basic arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Neuro-Movement Development
Motor skills development is a key focus of our Pre-Toddler Program, as it is directly linked to neurological growth. Through motor activities, brain cells connect to the body via synapses, forming the foundation for all other learning. Neuro-movement learning is an exciting and essential part of our curriculum, contributing to long-term fitness, balance, creativity, and energy.
